Verse: Zoom out

Zoom out.

Zoom out
till the tips of
your thumb and index finger
span three days’ jour­ney,
till rivers curve like the life­line in your palm,
seed­ing civilizations.

Then zoom out some more.

Step back until the plan­ets float like fungus spores
in the ether of the expand­ing dark
from which light whis­pers to us
the story of the zero.

The flaw and the magic,
the fool and the hero,
all things remain the size they have always been.
and, despite every­thing you’ve just seen,
so do you.
